the pendulum project
In 2016, The Pendulum Project functioned as a grassroots organization with a mission to highlight emerging Toronto artists and build community through art + conversation. Headquarters: Studio 223A (Toronto, Canada)
Our 2016 programming consisted of a curated series of quarterly solo & group exhibitions. A total of four shows were hosted throughout the year; and events encompassed everything from film screenings and artist talks to performance evenings and panel discussions tackling the central issues of each exhibition.
TEAM: javier lovera, aaron moore, sean sandusky, jessica de vittoris, sydney allen ash, codie fletch, jamieson wang, nicholas di luzio + alexia bréard-anderson
Our curatorial aim was to collaboratively manifest the talent of students and aspiring art professionals through a multidisciplinary investigation of themes pertaining to migration, marginalization and identity. Our exhibition series became centred around empowerment, and focused on unravelling the ambiguity of contemporary social issues such as political apathy and racial, ethnic, religious and gender-based discrimination.
